Process

How do the elections work?

Six stages take every Student Branch election from nomination to final approval.

Nomination Opens
Eligible members can submit their candidacy applications. 15–21 September.

Application Review
The committee verifies that candidates meet the requirements. 21–24 September.

Final Candidate List
Eligible candidates are officially approved before voting.

Voting Opens
Eligible members receive the IEEE vTools voting link. Opens 25 September.
05
Voting Closes
The voting system closes at the specified deadline. Closes 2 October.
06
Election Approval
The relevant authorities review and approve the election process. Results announced 3 October.

Roles

Chair

Leads the student community, oversees plans and activities, and represents the community before relevant parties.

Eligibility

Are you eligible to run?

General requirements that apply to every candidate, regardless of position.

Active IEEE Membership

The member must have an active IEEE membership and satisfy the required membership duration for the position.

University Status

The student must not have an academic warning or disciplinary action.

Remaining Credit Hours

The student should have at least 32 credit hours remaining or the equivalent of one academic year.

Previous Terms

The student should not have previously held the same position twice.

After the election period ends, the Election Supervisors and Executive Board approve the results. Winners are then announced by each student branch's Election Committee through their own official channels.

Oversight

Election Supervisors & Committees

Two layers oversee every election: IEEE Jordan's Election Supervisors, and each branch's local Election Committee.

Election Supervisors

IEEE Jordan's election supervisors play a core role in ensuring the integrity and fairness of the election process. They oversee the process across all universities and confirm every candidate meets the stated requirements. No election result is approved without their direct supervision or sign-off.

How is the committee formed?

The university's Student Counselor selects two student members from among independent IEEE members who do not intend to run for any position covered by the election, to help manage the election process. The committee is supervised by the Counselor.

Committee Responsibilities

  • Oversee the election process and ensure its integrity and transparency, in line with this guide
  • Coordinate and supervise the electronic process — preparing candidacy forms, uploading candidates to the vTools platform, and monitoring electronic voting
  • Manage election-related communications and announcements, including the opening of candidacy, announcing candidates, opening/closing voting, and announcing results through official channels

Have a petition about the election?

After the preliminary nomination results are announced, a petition window opens for anyone who wants to formally object to the election process. The window lasts 48 hours from the moment results are announced, and petitions submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

How petitions are handled

Petition Reception Period
Opens immediately after official results are announced and stays open for 48 hours only.

How to Submit
Send an official email to the Election Supervisors including your name, university and branch/chapter, a clear description of the objection, and any supporting evidence.

Review
The IEEE SAC Jordan election committee reviews every petition neutrally and may contact concerned parties for more information.

Decision
The final decision is approved by the committee and the petitioner is notified by email. The decision is final and binding for all parties.

Final Results Announced
Once all petitions are reviewed, final results are approved and published through IEEE SAC Jordan's and the branch's official channels.

Who is eligible to run?
Members who satisfy the membership, academic status, and position requirements.
Can I run for more than one position?
This should be determined according to the election policy approved for the current year.
What happens if only one person runs?
Special procedures may apply and require approval from the relevant committees according to the election guide.
How do I know if my application was accepted?
A notification will be sent to the email address provided in the application.
Where does voting take place?
Through IEEE vTools.
Can I edit my application after submitting it?
Applications may be edited before nominations close by contacting the Election Committee.

Is the Eligibility Checker final?
No. The result is preliminary and the final decision belongs to the Election Committee.
